Links or URLs unrelated to the position: The ability to utilize the Internet to apply for positions certainly has allowed prospective candidates to share more information about them than a written resume allows. In fact, candidates can attach video resumes, and links to personal websites, blogs, and social networking pages. My advice to this practice is: DON’T DO IT!! Again, candidates run the risk of making an embarrassing professional faux pa. Just recently, I received a resume with a link to the candidate’s Facebook page. Unfortunately, that same candidate had uploaded pictures to that same Facebook page that showed him, let’s just say, in an unprofessional light (drinking, partying, some nudity!) Well, as a recruiter, my reputation is at risk every time I forward a resume to a hiring manager. I am not about to take a chance on a candidate with such poor decision-making skills.
4. Writing Experience Section: Write your most recent experiences first followed by your next most recent experiences. This order is called reverse chronological order. Avoid writing short and irrelevant experiences. Only list less relevant experiences if it is the case of filling employment gap. Make it well formatted and easily readable. List your each experience in numbered or bulleted format. Writing Education Section: 5. Writing Education Section: You must write your most relevant academic achievements in education section. You may also list the honors and awards you earned. If you done any professional, career oriented course/s you should also list them in Education and Training section.
Include Irrelevant Info (AKA ”Fluff”) – If it’s not important, don’t add it to your resume. Try to put yourself in the shoes of the hiring manager and ask yourself what they would see as important. How does your background correspond with their needs as an employer? Anything else is fluff. Don’t add your hobbies to your resume. Don’t add your references (if they want them, they’ll ask at the appropriate time). And don’t include your high school education either. Finally, don’t be redundant and repeat yourself throughout the context of your resume. It’s OK to reinforce themes, but don’t push it. If your title has been Branch Manager at each of your past three companies, find a way to differentiate each of these positions and highlight your most notable accomplishments. Don’t just copy and paste the line ”Managed a team of branch employees” three times. That will get you nowhere.

Also, don’t forget that the content of the resume and it must not be ”different” in information, especially important ones. However, it is neither a part nor a summary of your one. So, differentiate the it’s function and resume. 6. Check spelling and grammatical errors: Even the smallest spelling or grammatical error may become the reason that eliminates your name out of the list of potential candidates. So, don’t forget to check carefully for any error before clicking the ”send” button, or bringing the resume across a long way to the employer. 7. Finishing: Don’t forget to end it with promising sentences that you are ready for the interview and if there is chance and will actively contact the employer before he or she contacts you. This way will help impress and smartly remind the employer of you. And also, don’t forget to put your name, address, e-mail and phone number at the end of the resume or resume.
